alright this is one last midnight
welcome back to another episode of Astra
NIR and today I want to talk about bite
for me yeah you heard me right farming
for bites yes I know there's a million
different ways that you could get bites
you can get bites from rocks you can get
bites from plants you can get bites from
the pods but I'm talking about farming
your own pods and I used to do this in
pre-alpha and I just forgot all about it
but I want to give a shout out to sacred
Chow who reminded me that this is
possible so I hope you guys enjoy the
video
oh right so you say you want to be a
bite farmer you want to be one of those
guys who like just grows his own bites
yeah I realized that there are many many
different ways to get bites research
bites are not hard to find they're all
over the place there's various different
ways that you can get them today though
we're gonna look at creating a bite farm
now you're gonna need yourself some
seeds I happen to have all seven seeds
that you could possibly get in Astra
near now this is absolutely known to
work with pop coral seeds but in the
name of science we're gonna try them all
first thing you're gonna need to do
you're gonna need just to build yourself
a little bit kind of a plateau a little
ramp area I'm gonna need some soil for
that so make sure you get yourself a
nice little area in which you can build
a ramp on you want to make sure that
it's high enough that the research can
hang down from wherever you're going to
be planting your seeds and then what
you're going to want to do is you're
going to want to find a polygon and
level it off now I'm gonna be planting a
wide variety of plants so I want to make
this platform pretty darn big I guess
take a lot of seeds on here but let's
start with that you see how there's
enough room for research pots to hang
from the bottom this is important once
you've got your platform made you're
gonna need to get your seeds up there
and then you're gonna need to plant
planting your seeds is rather easy all
you have to do is grab your seed put it
in a location that you want it and hold
down the F button to plant it your seed
is now planted you're gonna do that for
all the seeds you possibly have now all
you need to do is give your plants some
Sun and wait for them to grow

now once your plants have fully matured
it's time to go see what you got you'll
notice that research bites these
research pods have grown underneath the
pop coral now the others were just pure
science right I wanted to try it to see
if anything would grow underneath it as
you can see it's important to dig
underneath your plants as well because
you don't ever know what you'll find
here's another example of research that
was harvested from one of the plants now
here's the downside
none of these plants will regrow
research the only way to get a new batch
of research is to explode the plants and
start all over again as you notice when
I'm blowing up these plants there is
still a chance to get seeds and research
not all of these plants will do that the
pop coral seems to have not dropped one
seed but some of the other plants have
dropped seeds and research again with
all plants research and seeds vary there
is no guarantee that you are gonna get
research and seeds back from the plants
that you harvest let's go take a look at
our research all my right are examples
of standard Sylva research that you can
find in trees and/or in the caves or
Brock's and here is my farmed research
let's look at the difference in bites so
a standard Sylva research pod will
contain about 360 bites - roughly I
think the most that I've seen is close
to 500 but those two or 360 here are
some of the differences with the farmed
research pods 1200 bites 400 bites 3,700
bites and 2,500 bites now again the
farmed research is going to vary it's
easy to find pop coral and pop coral
seeds in the caves on Sylva and you can
quickly get a farm up and running that
will produce pretty high-quality
research
all right it's pretty cool right I mean
it's pretty neat that you can turn
around and you can farm some bikes and
you're not only getting you know what
you would get let's say you did on
silver you're not only getting what you
could get on silver you're getting it on
what you can find on any other planet
which is high bytes high concentration
of bytes so it's really nice in the
beginning of the game and it's very easy
to set up and do so I hope you guys
