- The nuthatches are a genus, Sitta, of small passerine birds belonging to the family Sittidae. Characterised by large heads, short tails, and powerful bills and feet, nuthatches advertise their territory using loud, simple songs. Most species exhibit grey or bluish upperparts and a black eye stripe.
- Sittas (Greek: u03A3u03AFu03C4u03C4u03B1u03C2; died 538) was a Byzantine military commander during the reign of Emperor Justinian I (r. 527u2013565). During the Iberian War against the Sassanid Empire, Sittas was given command of forces in Armenia, similar to the status of Belisarius in Mesopotamia. He won a victory over the Sassanids at Satala.
