taunt yeah the origin of this this
phrase to taunt is quite interesting it

- to pester normally if you're badgering
somebody you're asking them to do
something you're pestering them
repeatedly but with a request that they
do something so the children saw the
advertising on television and were
continuously badgering their parents to
buy them the toy okay so - badger is to
repeatedly ask for something to
repeatedly ask somebody to do something
for you yeah um he's always badgering me
to lend him some money but I always say
no okay so - badger - will pester
repetitively but requesting that
something is done requesting that the
person do something would they take an
action okay so let's see firstly all of
these are regular verbs Harris Harris

taunt taunted taunted heckle heckle
heckle pester pestered pestered badger
badger badger
now what about formality
okay I would say to Harris is neutral
maybe the littlest bit fool but it's
something you could easily use in what
when you were speaking in a neutral
situation to persecute again is neutral
neutral formality so there was a
religious persecution going on in that
country maybe at the moment many people
are pestering people astray or
persecuting people of Arab origin just
because there are if you're a herb it

maybe even a little bit inform if you
call a person a pest
that's an informal way of saying
something to pester I would say it's
completely neutral and to badger
somebody to do something
I'd say again this one is neutral
although too bad your son's a little bit

so to pester and badger are the weakest
to heckle is next to taunt is next to
Harris is more intense and the most
intense is to persecute so let me just

aggressively pressure or intimidate
somebody to persecute someone is to
subject somebody to continual and
persistent ill treatment and hostility
to taunt to try to provoke somebody by
saying nasty things by insults or
