hi everyone and welcome to my first ever
study motivation video in this video in
particular I'll be sharing with you guys
how I studied for three exams that I had
back to back
I had a gross anatomy exam a
neuroscience exam and a variety exam all
the same week I studied for a good 50
hours this video I think you guys will
love because I'm going to be sharing
with you guys specific tips that I use
to study for specific exams and I will
also be sharing with you guys the grades
that I got on my exams at the end of
this video so make sure you guys stay

it's a couple of hours later I'm
finished studying for gross anatomy
completely so I'm happy with that right
now I'm going through all of my
neuroscience notes I'm doing so we have
yeah so I just have this lecture and
this lecture to do so just gonna go over
these lectures so I could be on the font
way for class tomorrow and then I'm then
I'm also going to look at what we're
going to be talking about tomorrow so
that can like read over the notes and
everything and it can be like ahead of
the game but yeah I'm so happy I've been
so productive today you guys probably
try I'm going to leave here at 3:00

so yesterday I completed in trading on
all of my notes for gross anatomy and
today I can actually begin studying the
first thing I always do is I make a
little sheets just diagramming out
exactly what's going to be on Nixon
I'm studying and I can always go back
and make sure that each part of the exam
is completely studied for so this exam
in particular for gross anatomy had five
part this part was a forty minute forty
question practical the second part was a
multiple-choice section the third part
was basically case studies for clinical
stuff the part form was the blood supply
of the neck region so we have to know
the diagrams and the characteristics of
arteries and be able to identify them
and the fifth part rulers and muscles of
the neck so we had to know the diagram
and know the axes of all the muscles so
as you guys can tell this exam very long
very extensive and that's why I spent so
much time studying for it

one of my favorite tools to study is
definitely Quizlet I used the notes that
I type up in class and I put it directly
into Quizlet and crushin format so that
everything that he basically says in
class is in question format and I can
use that to study

hey guys so updates today is Tuesday
I finally got my nails done so I'm not
looking correctly like I did yesterday
but it looks so bomb
so currently 8 o'clock 804 on the dot I
was able to find this room here to study
in I was going to go to the library but
today is election day I did go home to
vote so that's good I could ones home to
vote and I got my nails done back in New
York came back to school
came back to school to sting day and now
it's my study time so the library was
closed because of election day my whole
school was closed actually the whole
school is closed as well as the
libraries so I couldn't study in the
library today and my room was too loud
for me to study in just on this room
here which is nice if it has a
whiteboard and I'm very excited to get
some studying in today so I completely
finished writing all of my notes that's
like my first step of studying and I
showed you guys yesterday like what my
exam is going to consist of so now I'm
just gonna go from like I'm gonna go
through each part of the exam and study
for it specifically I have three subject
binders for all of my classes and I
split it up between each exam so this
was all for the first exam and then I
have my exam and the grade over there
and then this is for the second exam and
the goal is to use up all of this paper
that's best of all I always give myself
I've used up half of it so far the
second half is it's gonna be for me
writing over and over and over again
because writing helps me memorize so I
only have a few more pages left but I
definitely want to get it done so I make
great use of my notebooks
I sweat up my muscles by nerves and by
action so for example these are their
femoral nerve muscles and it's easy for
me to remember it this way because I
already have there's four things that we
have there's four things that we have to
know for each muscle the origin
insertion action and innervation so if I
sweat it up by the nerves it helps me
remember one specific thing so I know
that all of whom were all nerve muscles
are these then I split it up again by
accident in there then I split it up
again by action so these are the Flex
this is a femoral nerve muscles that
flex and then these are the femoral
nerve muscles that extend the knee top
section is like my title section right
so I've put femoral nerve muscles and
then I split it up between the two
things that differentiate the muscles
from each other so this side is flexion
and then this side is extension so all
these muscles flex and all these muscles
extend and then all the femoral nerve
muscles our muscles are over the
anterior thigh so it kind of separates
it in that way and then I highlight
things that are really like distinct
about each thing
and then these are operator nerve
muscles so I already know that there's
four things we have to know for each
muscle origin insertion action and if
all of them have the same innervation it
makes me remember in that way and if
they have the same innervation that
means they're in the same area of the
body so these are the obturator nerves
muscles actually I make a little
pneumonic sort of thing or acronym it's
not really hard I just and then for the
bones I always draw out the bones and
then I put pointers so what inserts into
specific parts of the bone as I talked
about yesterday that's what he wants to
know that's part of the practical he'll
give us a part of the bone and he'll put
like a sticker on it and he'll ask what
inserts there what originates there
what's the importance of this specific
part so for example your superior iliac
spine and the anterior inferior iliac
spine have two specific origination so
the ASIS is first star Sirius and the AI
is is for the rectus femoris so if you
put something on here I know that that's
specific to rectus femoris and I'll go
on like that and then these are the
plexus so these are the nerve sections
and I'll just like this is like what I
write out in like class almost this is
like the breakdown everything before I
go like more in-depth if that makes
sense
and then these are like my study papers
so these are why I just write things
over and over and over again so you guys
can see here I have like my acronyms so
I just remember everything so P IPS VBB
RA AG and these are my drawings
I really enjoyed drawing the bones out
and putting what inserts into specific
parts
and then drawing our ligaments helps me
know from what area it's what area and
it helps me like visualize it more as
well so it's just like that for every
you know chapter and then so on and so
on those are all my notes for the exam
the only thing that I'm missing right
now is the clinical section because we
do have like important clinical stuff
that we have to go through I'm just
going to read over that and I have a
specific book I'm just on clinical stuff
and the book I use for that is my board
with my board with you serious book and
the factors that go in depth with each
part of the body but then they have a
review test section that are just on
clinical stuff so my goal is to get
through all these clinical questions
before the exam as well and then along
with the questions they have it answers
in the split explanation section so I
think I'm gonna focus on that so that's
gonna be me focus for tomorrow I'm going
to do all the clinical stuff tomorrow
right now I'm just going to focus on the
first two parts of the exam which is the
practical portions and identifying
structures and then the second part
knowing the actual origin insertion
accident integration all muscles but I
kind of have an idea I just have to you
know
get my mind on track for that you know
exam time but I haven't said you guys
know I study every single day so it's
not like any there's no new information
that's the worst thing you can do learn
new information before an exam so it's
not like I'm learning anything new I'm
gonna give myself like a good 30 minutes
to create my Quizlet so for the
practical section of what I do is I put
in or it's a dinner table
so it comes you just type in the name
and the picture comes up right there and
these this is actual these are the
actual models that we use for my
practicals so it makes things a lot
easier so when the practical comes I
don't have to like think about what it
might look like on a specific model I
know that this is the exact model that
he uses and it just has like a pointer
to it so I know this is it to be asked
interior right there

the muscles of specific areas in the
body is to group them by similarities
for example the lower leg I like to put
them up I like to put them up by the
innervation as well as the actions so as
you guys can see on the left hand
the dorsiflex muscles are the tibialis
anterior extensor digitorum longus and
extensor hallucis longus and the plants
are flexor muscles are the peroneus
longus and cranny and crevice so by
grouping these together it helps me
memorize

so currently I'm just using this based
on the board to write all the
information that we need to know for
each muscle so on this left side here
you guys can see that I'm writing the
action then the muscles in the middle
and then I have to ordinate insertion
that I'm writing on the side here it's
hard to like do it inside my actual
notebook so I'm happy that I have this
space like write it out in one specific
line and yeah so that's what I'm doing
right now so today is Wednesday and I
met with my study group today in between
classes so it's a little before noon and
we had about an hour and a half to study

study groups are probably my favorite
part of preparing for exams because
we're able to share with each other the
different mnemonics and the different
acronyms that we found on our own
personal study time and collaborate on
different ideas that we can use to
memorize information another thing that
I do in study groups is we always quiz
ourselves well I would say exam result
but that it only makes sense but we
basically create a mock practical that
emulates the practical that we will be
doing in class for the actual exam in
the same format and everything so that
we kind of prepare ourselves and put
ourselves in the same put ourselves in
the same position that we're going to be
and when we're actually going to take
the exam basically what we do is we all
come in with multiple questions that
we're going to ask each other and we'll
put stickers on the different parts of
the muscles the different parts of the
bones typically ask questions as a
fourth teacher and see what we know and
what we don't know and this is the best
way I feel like because there's it's one
thing to read the information or look at
pictures and it's another thing to
actually see the models and see the
different parts of the muscles
the five anterior muscle is don't have
to be a less material I Center houses

so after my study group I ended up going
back to the library to study in between
classes I did have class again later on
at like 4:30 but I got some coffee I got
my breakfast yes it was almost 2 o'clock
and I was eating breakfast my first meal
of the day but I decided to go and study
some more I went back through my notes
again and I was just basically reciting
everything that I know so I would write
on the left hand side a list of all the
muscles and on the right I would just
off of memory write everything that we
have to know for each muscle just like
that and this exam we had almost 100
muscles which is crazy and before the
exam I was able to write out everything
memorized already for all the muscles
that we had to know just based on
recalling and memorization

yeah so today is Wednesday today is
gonna be the first day that I really
studied for my neuroscience exam which
is going to be on Monday today is
Wednesday earlier today I had a study
group you guys saw with my gross anatomy
classmates we have our gross 9u exam on
Friday then for neuroscience our exam is
on Monday right now I am in my
neuroscience class we have class in
about an hour and we have a class in
about an hour and today is our review
class session so I'm just going to show
you guys basically how our review goes
for my neuroscience class and these
reviews are very important and this is
what this is like the base always the
baseline of when I really start my
intense studying because they let you
know
well most teachers let you know what you
have to really focus on for the exam so
we obviously learn a lot of information
in science classes especially college
science classes and even more especially
for neuroscience because niro science is
all lots of information so this is what
my notebook looks like my notebook for
neuroscience is read and this is exam 2
stuff
so neuroscience consists of a lot of
tracks a lot of pathways and stuff like
that so it's a lot of information and
this stuff is usually his exams consists
of a practical section as well as
multiple-choice a few multiple-choice
questions but the most part the most
important parts of the exam are actually
written out and you have to like write
out and explain different pathways and
it's a lot of memorization for
neuroscience neuroscience is a lot of
memorization because there's a lot of
information there's a lot of and
neuroscience also has a lot of anatomy
in it as well so you have to be able to
identify structures and know their
functions but you guys know neuroscience
is the study of the brain and on the
spinal cord so it's like distinct but
there's so many small in small parts of
there are so many small parts of the
exam so for example he might ask us a
question of he might ask us what the
corticospinal tract is and the
descending pathway and then we have to
be able to identify how the track the
goes this is a descending path way so it
goes this way but there are also
ascending tracks that go the opposite
direction this one isn't really filled
in so we would have to know the
direction of course we have to know the
different parts you guys can see it here
thumb is midbrain pons rostro medulla
caudal medulla and spinal cord then you
have to know what part of each section
what part of what part it goes through
so for example in the midbrain it goes
through the crus cerebri and in the pons
it goes through the fiber bundles and
the Rosso medulla goes to the pyramids
of the Rostova medulla so we have to
know like the specific information on
that parts of those specific parts of
the thing and he might ask us to draw it
out which is another thing so we would
have to know that exact shapes of
everything then the most important part
is actually known the pathway so
word-for-word we have to memorize this
so basically each
Hart has a description of it and yet the
like have a word-for-word so example for
the thalamus the corticospinal tract
fibers traveled through the posterior
portion of the internal capsule and
descend into the midbrain which is this
section right here at the midbrain you
pass through the crus cerebri um crus
cerebri EPSA laterally so of course you
would have to know if the lateral means
which means the same side
absolutely and descends into the pons
fiber bundles so this is a paunch fiber
bundles but for example and the sending
tracts in the sending tract it goes
contralaterally so those are specific
words that we have to learn that it's
not like typically in our vocabulary so
there's a lot of different parts of the
exam there's a lot of anatomy as I said
before pathways vocab words that we just
have to know you know so neuroscience is
a very hard class that's why I was so
surprised when I got a 95 on my first
one because I mean I wasn't surprised
because I learned a lot of information I
really studied hard for it but it's very
little called for some examples of stuff
that we learned for the first exam so we
have to know the pathways for example
dopamine nerve and Efrain serotonin so
we have to know all the specific parts
so we have to know where it goes to in
the brain we have to know the enzymes
that make it up the functions receptors
it's a lot of information you guys that
you have to go through and this is
something that we had to learn as well
so this is an action membrane potential
we had to basically memorize this whole
process and this was actually a question
on the exam so he basically just asked
what is it actually an action membrane
potential and we would have to basically
write this out word for word

and then this was another question so
there's a lot of this was another
question and he gave us this was an epic
question he had on the first exam so he
asked us what the ventricular the flow
he basically access what the flow of CSS
is through the ventricular system so he
had to write all this out word for word
basically not word for word but we have
to know the specific vocab word so we
have to know the location choroid plexus
how it goes through so the important
vocab words for this one for example
will be choroid plexus foramen foramen
of Monro third ventricle cerebral
aqueduct fourth ventricle
cerebral canal to the spine or at the
medial Magendie and the lateral aperture
of the lucca joined at the sistema magna
and then go to the reckoning space into
the arachnoid granulations through the
superior sagittal sinus so those are all
specific things that we have to know so
we have to know those specific words for
each section because those words
directly correlate to the actual
pictures so he access to rights to draw
this out so we have to memorize this
picture which is honestly I kind of
messed up I'll show you guys my exam box
I didn't bring with me but I tried to
draw this but it didn't come out exactly
like this so made it harder for me to
freely list it out but I ended up
getting a lot of ID net backs are doing
really well with this but because I knew
the specific locations but he would
access to draw this and then list out
where each portion is so number one
would be over here number two would be
at going through the foramen of Monro
into the third ventricle and then going
down the stairwell canal so like it's
so yeah right now I'm just going to
continue I have some notes to write for
this first second exam that I'm going to
do until class starts and then yeah I'll
talk to you guys whenever courts some of
the I'm going to record some of the
review and then I'm studying after this
I'm studying from basically I want to
say seven o'clock until my goal is to be
finished by like three today process
where does sensory information on begin
right where does it end up so where does
it end for sensory information yeah as
we think about so everything from
somatic sensation up into what we did
yesterday is on the quiz on the exam
spinal cord stuff is not yeah what about
5v what is sending knowing to the T
every single thing that we talked about
drawing it out and then writing it out
that's me would be the hardest so thing
for taste but you need to know the
process right so what makes that you
need right sodium right and some of you
are pretty much transduces is the
perception of salty taste so basically
just speaking really general here you
have been tasting which is a sodium ion
that goes through the specific amiloride

teachers would give us for review so
that is one thing that I find very
important I do want to stress is to
study smart it's not about how much you
study it's about how efficient you're
studying is so you guys saw that my
neuroscience class we had a review
session and that's why I always start my
actual exam studying after we have
review because I don't want to study
information that is not going to be on
the exams my neuroscience teacher told
us what we have to worry about and what
we don't have to worry about with exam
so I wrote a list out and I'll talk to
you guys about it on Friday because
that's what I'm gonna really focus my
time on neuroscience after my gross
anatomy exam is over it was a list of
the things that we have to study during
the review we asked questions always
have questions ready for your review
class

my little schedule for tonight
I'm going to be studying from 9:30 till
4:00 a.m. this is the time that I like
to study I have my coffee here and I'm
basically gonna be all up all night with
this and I don't have class until 9:00 I
don't have to be up until 9:00 a.m. so I
have improvident I'm still gonna get a
good amount of sleep a good 5 hours so
I'm not going to be too worried about
that but what I have to do today 9:30 to
10:30 I'm going to be doing the
posterior and anterior leg 10:30 to
11:45 the foot muscles 11:45 to 12:15
I'm basically gonna go back and review
this again and basically just like
recited off of memory then 12:15 to 2
o'clock I'm going to do the neck muscles
2 to 3 a.m. blood supply out the neck
also blood supply of the neck class
cervical plexus
I write on the board so ugly you guys I
do apologize then 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. I'm
just gonna review clinical information
on the exam so right now I'm basically
just making a little flow chart I'm
doing the posterior-anterior like right
now so I'm basically going to show you
guys what I have going on training
yourself to memorize information is
definitely something that can be learned
I'm probably going to talk more about
this in a later video if you guys are
interested in it but I've honestly
gotten my memorization skills down
packed to the point where I'm able to
memorize a lot of information and I
don't want to say short period of time
because I do it over a couple of days
but by the time that the exam comes I
have so much information memorized that
I'm able to basically teach a whole
class goal which is definitely my goal
when I am studying for exams I want to
be able to know the information well
enough to be able to teach the
information back

granddaddy we exam today is my last full
day's work full night of studying it is
currently it is currently 747 I just got
here my finish was all my concept for
the day and everything like that
today I'm eating some lunch on for
dinner I have my coffee I feel like that
the done is response to me at this point
because I drink this every single day
but yeah my I left everything up here
from yesterday every quick word so it's
still here because these are those stuff
that I had to review last those are the
stuff I basically just wrote on the
floor the stuff that was like the most
confusing to me so I have that here I'm
not planning on sitting for too long
today

basically know already I just have to
refresh and just like keep going through
cuz it's a lot of information I don't
want to a lot of information I started
off my Quizlet you guys had
all the time nobody needs to know had
300 I think it was like 330 terms which
is obviously a lot and those were all
terms that we learned throughout the
throughout and those are all terms that
are like fair game for the exam so I
know most I know almost all of them this
is like the last few things I have to
like really study I was there that this
is about like
a good
a good 15 things
and that I just want to make sure our
review over so 250 it said I want to say
it's about 200 from it's about 50 things
that I have to like still go over again
to make sure that I have it on point and
it's one thing to memorize something is
another thing to really understand it
I'm studying so that I understand the
information and it's making things a lot
easier
earlier today I sitting with a group of
classmates for the actual practical
portion of the exam if you guys don't
know the practical is it's basically
where the teacher gives you stations for
example my exam has 40 different
stations and we have a 1 minute for each
station to basically answer a question
but each station has either a model a
bone or just like a question paper
itself so he would put on the in one
station a part of the femur so for
example he puts the lesser trochanter of
the femur he'll put a sticker on that
and ask what
what inserts into the lesser trochanter
of the femur and then we would have to
write down the three muscles or he'll
put on the ASIS the interior superior
iliac spine he'll put like a sticker on
the anterior superior iliac spine and
ask what are the actions of the muscle
that originates from here so you have to
first know what the muscle is then
second you would have to know all the
action so this kind of goes like that
wait to point to a specific muscle and
ask what it is there's like more to the
question if that makes sense
so what we did to study is each of us in
the group came in with five questions
that we were thinking I made of our own
practical so we went to like it's called
like a lab it's called with a study lab
room so we each came in with five
different questions so those were like
two of the question that I use so I put
a sticker on the lesser trochanter and I
put a sticker on the ASIS and I also put
a sticker on the calcaneus and then I
had like two more questions I forget but
we were just basically basically making
trying to make the exam like the teacher
would and that really really really did
help I feel like I'm like solid right
now on all the models all the diagrams
all the bones
so that's just a tip for you guys you
guys can create like your own separate
practical and just come in with the five
questions to each six questions each and
create your own like mock practical and
that definitely does help it helps you
like decrease anxiety so that's not the
first time you're seeing and also timed
each other too so we made it like it was
actually practical and we time each
other one minute for each station so
that on the exam come tomorrow we're not
gonna be like and anxious are you guys
so it is officially the end of my study

I literally just finished class I'm in
here right now I was like let me just
share with you guys quickly the grades
that I got on all of my exams I actually
didn't study for biology in this video
at all because I focused more on gross
anatomy because I had gross Matt I had
my gross anatomy exams at Friday and
then I had neuro signs of that Monday
and I didn't really start studying for
virology until about like Saturday night
/ Sunday morning and I didn't that
wasn't part of this video this video was
literally from Sunday through Thursday
and obviously I studied more for
neuroscience and biology after my crocin
and the exam was completely done with so
in my next I'm playing motivation video
if you guys would like to see this again
I will talk more about how a city for
biology which is basically the study of
viruses and it's more like a biology
course kind of or it's like a immunology
course so it's a lot of memorization
it's not a lot of application there's no
practical involved so it's a different
type of studying that I will definitely
share with you guys if you guys have
classes that are similar to biology and
biology also has a lot of like math in
it as well so you can use the stuff that
I'm going to talk about in my next study
motivation video for like your chemistry
physics classes like that but I do hope

but let me tell you guys the grades that
I got for all of my exams if you guys
watched my
first part of my birthday vlog I
actually got my exam that was a day that
I got my exam grade back it was a day
before my birthday and the day before I
went to Miami and it was like the best
birthday gift ever I'd end up getting
the highest grade on my girls Miami exam
which is insane I was so happy I knew
that I was gonna do really well I even
recorded it in class he always tells
love that my teacher always tells us the
highest grade he gives us the average
for the class and it kind of allows you
to like weigh in on how well you did
last year I was focused more on just
doing higher than average that was my
goal just to do higher than average and
I would be happy with that but this year
I was like I can push myself a little
bit more and now my goal is to get the
highest rate in the class and now my
goal moved from that to getting the
highest rate in the class so I ended up
doing that and getting a high score in
the class and I knew I had a feeling I
was going to because I know that nobody
else is putting in as much work as I was
for this exam study but let me show you
guys I don't know if I brought it here
with me but actually I'm just gonna play
the recording right now of what he's
saying and I'm gonna put like the words
over it so that you guys can because
it's not a video I record all of my
classes so it's not gonna be a video but
you guys will be able to hear it and the
voice recording we had a tie for the
first place so yeah that was my grade
for my gross anatomy class and then for
my neuroscience exam I ended up I didn't
get the highest grade in my class I
honestly don't know what the highest
grade was but the average grade for this
exam was a 71 so as you guys can tell a
lot of people do really back on these
exams because these classes are very
hard I feel like I try and make it seem
easier than it is and
definitely not easy at all you guys know
how much work I put into it
I'm gonna try and pull up my grade
online right now from my neuroscience
class all right guys so these are my
grades so far for this class once a cold
exam 1 exam 1 I got 83 out of 88 which I
told you guys before and that was
basically uh I got 83 out of 88 which is
a 95 on the first exam and then this
exam I got an 80 out of 85 I just put
the grades in today I think 80 out of
585 but he did tell us that the average
class grade was a 71 or 72 something
like that I definitely know I did better
than that 80 out of 85 there should be
like about Andy something in 94 so I got
94 on this exam which is really good as
well so I'm very happy you guys honestly
I feel like all of my work definitely
did work out and yeah I'm just very
happy about everything I have no idea
when I'm going to upload this video
because I just came back from I just
came back from Miami today so I just got
my grades back but honestly school just
been kicking my ass honestly I've been
studying so much as you guys saw in this
video so it's been a lot I'll definitely
talk to you guys later

good I tried to count how many hours I
did study for the entire week it was
