How to pronounce angiology in English?

hi everyone welcome to my hesi vocab
video i just took the hessie yesterday
february 8th 2022
and i did pretty well in the vocab i got
a 96
so i thought i would go over a little
review of the words that i studied there
were far more than i'll even include
here but this will be a good place to
start and i'm going to read the options
out loud in case anyone is driving or
can't look at the screen
the first word is expectorate
does that mean to sneeze to limp to die
or to cough up expectorate
that means
cough up
the next word is angiology
is angiology studying diseases of the
heart
the brain
the circulatory system
or the foot
this one could be a little bit tricky if
you didn't know it
this one is diseases of the circulatory
system
and one of the things you can try to do
is rule out other options so in this
case
heart would be cardio or cardiac
brain would probably be neuro or psych
and foot might be the root word pod pod
like a podiatrist or podiatry so if you
were able to kind of go through that
process in your mind you'll
choose the last option which was
circulatory system and being able to do
that will really help you on the test
convulse does convulse mean
to lean to pray to smell or to shake
convulse
convulse means to shake
and again you're looking for the closest
answer not necessarily a perfect
definition
the next word is superior
also i just want to add
this being kind of an anatomy term i was
a little bit surprised to see some
anatomy terms in the vocab section my
school didn't require us to take the
anatomy portion and so i hadn't really
studied much anatomy and i started
getting a little nervous when i saw some
of these words but it was only a couple
i think on my test there were only two
anatomy terms in the vocab section and
they were pretty easy ones but just go
over some anatomy terms even if you're
not taking the anatomy portion
so superior does that mean toward the
feet
towards the side of the body
toward the head
or nearer to the trunk of the body
superior means toward the head just like
your bosses you're superior they're
above you
also on this list you should know
what each of these other terms
corresponds to with an anatomy term so
toward the feet would be inferior
the side of the body
would be lateral whereas towards the
midline would be medial
and nearer to the trunk of the body
would be proximal whereas
further away from the trunk of the body
or closer to the extremity would be
distal
so definitely you want to know those
ones also be sure you know flexion and
extension
just i would make sure i know those ones
next word contrite
does contrite mean small
compare
remorseful or elated
contrite
contrite means remorseful
an example sentence would be the
contrite boyfriend apologized to his
girlfriend for being
late the next word is succinct
does succinct mean fast heavy
short or trite
succinct
succinct means
short
example would be please use brief
succinct sentences
the next word is taciturn
does taciturn mean uncommunicative
repetitive
circular
or jarring
taciturn
taciturn means uncommunicative it's not
quite what it means but it's the closest
word
an example sentence would be he's fairly
taciturn so it is hard to know what he
is thinking
taciturn really means more
like you keep your thoughts inside you
don't necessarily tell people everything
you're thinking
it doesn't really mean you won't speak
to someone or that you don't communicate
it just means you kind of keep your
thoughts and feelings closer to your
heart
also you can think of when people say he
was tacitly complicit i feel like you
see that in police detective shows you
know he was tacitly complicit in
commuting in in committing this crime
it means you know you you might not have
been like the key planner or real
outspoken and
you know whatever of what you're doing
but you went along with it so taciturn
the next word is
consternation
does consternation mean constellation
impervious
anxiety
or ambivalence
consternation means anxiety
in the sentence would be
my ride to the airport was running late
causing me great consternation
also make sure you know some of these
other words if you don't know what
impervious means that's another one that
i've seen on a lot of practice tests so
make sure you know that one
impervious means unable to be affected
by something
languid
language does that mean lively
sluggish
fluent or witty
languid means sluggish
an example would be
the flu made her pale and languid
they like to test on words that are
going to be used by medical
professionals to describe you when you
are sick so something like languid will
probably be more likely to be tested
than some of
you know some of these other words that
aren't really like medically related
prescribe does prescribe mean authorize
the use of medication
supply a remedy
for bid at law
or aptitude or skill
proscribe
this could be a tricky one because it
sounds like the word
prescribe which means to authorize the
use of medication but proscribe
is different so if you
kind of guessed that at first look again
at the other options does it mean to
supply a remedy to forbid at law
or aptitude skill
prescribe means to forbid at law
an example sentence would be smoking
indoors was prescribed in maine
spherical does spherical mean
sticky square
round or silver
spherical means round like a sphere or a
globe
epidermis
does epidermis mean under the skin
the outer layer of skin
cilia
or respiratory
epidermis means the outer layer of skin
also you should know the first
option under the skin
that would be the word hypodermic like a
hypodermic needle
i've seen that on a lot of practice
questions too so make sure you know both
of
those ingenuous
does ingenuous mean clever
funny
candid
or hurtful
ingenuous
this one can be tricky because there's
another word that sounds like it
ingenuous means candid
so make sure that you're aware of the
difference between ingenuous and
ingenious
which look alike and sound alike but
mean different things
so ingenious means someone who's clever
or smart like an ingenious invention
the word ingenuous means candid
honest open
we'll often hear people use the opposite
word disingenuous like oh he is so
disingenuous with all his compliments
he's just laying it on so thick to get
what he wants it you know
that would be disingenuous so ingenuous
is the opposite someone who is telling
you
things that they actually do believe and
really do think so like honest
compliments they might be giving you
the next word is sinuous
does sinuous mean evil
curvy kind or mysterious
sinuous means
curvy
this one might be tricky because the
root word sin could make you think
something bad or evil but sinuous just
means something curvy shaped like a
snake is sinuously shaped it's curvy
i should go back up sinful
might be evil so like that would be
you know a tricky pair you might want to
be sure you're aware of sinful would be
evil sinuous is curvy
peroxism i see this word
all over the place every practice test
every quizlet i've ever looked at has
this word in it there's probably a
reason for that they probably test this
one heavily
i can't remember if this one was on my
test or not but i see this one a lot so
make sure you know this
peroxism
does that mean corrective parallel
sudden onset or satirical
peroxism means a sudden onset
so an example sentence would be
the newly conscious patie the newly
conscious patient was beset by a
peroxism of coughing
or
if you just found out that your beloved
pet just died unexpectedly you would be
very sad so you might experience a
peroxism of weeping
and the word discreet spelled e-t-e
discrete with the ending e-t-e
does that mean joyful personality
privately quiet
to expel waste
or a separate instance
the ending of this word does matter
because discrete could be spelled in two
different ways
and hesi is known for testing words that
have multiple spellings
discrete ending e t e
means
separate instance
whereas discrete ending with e-e-t
means you're private or you're quiet
about something like
joe was having an affair but he was very
discreet about it
another option here was to expel waste
that means excrete so again they might
give you
words or definitions that have kind of
similar sounds to them like the their
actual words so just be sure when you're
looking at some of these that you take
your time
and that's all i have for my vocab
